Russia's Religion

The Russian Orothodox Church originated as its name implies in Russia. There it was brought by Vlad who was never likely to reach the throne were it not for his mother, Olga. Olga's husband was killed by a rival to the throne. Afterwards, this rival askd Olga to marry him, a offer she accepted, but when the conqueror entered her city, Olga had him buried alive. Her son eventually succeeded to the throne, and put out a quest for a new religion for his kingdom. According to stories, Vlad refused the religion of Islam because of its ban on drinking, and eventually decided on Orthodoxcy which he found in the Byzantine Empire.

New Archimedes

Recently, a powerful new x-ray technique known as x-ray fluorescense has been used to read ancient texts. In the 13th century an unknown monk scraped of the ink of a manuscript that contained the last copy of certain writings of Archimedes. Archimedes was the greek famous for running out a bath-house yelling:"Eureka!" when he found a way to show if a blacksmith had cheated the king. He also is known for having held back the roman fleet which attacked Cyprus. The monk replaced these writings with prayers, and they were unreadable until now.
